What are workflow agents and do I need them?

Agents automate repeating document tasks. They are useful if you process similar documents regularly.

Workflow agents are automated pipelines that process documents without you having to do anything manually each time. You set up the agent once — defining what to extract, how to process it, and where to send the results — and then run it whenever you have new documents to process.

You do not need agents if you only process documents occasionally or on a one-off basis. Manual extractions and reports work well in those cases.

Agents become valuable when you have a repeating task, such as:

  • Processing a batch of invoices every month

  • Checking new contracts against a set of rules automatically

  • Pushing extracted data to your CRM or accounting software as soon as documents arrive

  • Generating a weekly summary report from multiple document sources

Agents are available on the Starter plan (up to 2 agents) and above.
